Things To Do
The Eco Shrine was created be Artist Diana Graham. She personally guides visitors around her famous Voices Of The
Earth Eco-shrine, as well as giving tours of her studio.
Crystal Corner and Mirrors Photo Gallery combine a look at one of Hogsbacks artists works, and their well stocked crystal shop. Take time to walk around their spiritual garden and take in their very own labyrinth and Stone Formations. Crystal readings are available here on request.
The Labyrinth Hogsback is home to one of the world’s largest labyrinths. It has eleven circuits, with a circumference of over 90 metres and a pathway of 700 metres, and is similar in design to the one at Chartres, France. This is found at The Edge and it is also a lovely spot for some lunch or a pint.
Starways Pottery is the life work of Master Potter, Anton van der Merwe. He offers visitors a unique experience at Starways Pottery. Anton is highly-regarded in artistic circles, producing contemporary pieces through normal firing techniques, as well as through rare wood-burning processes, including Raku. Visitors are encouraged to relax with a free cup of tea or coffee while exploring his charming studio, and may be lucky enough to see the artist at work. Raku events are organised subject to group size.
Photography: Hogsback offers photographic opportunities which are unique in South Africa – winter snowfalls are frequent and year-round it has wonderfully atmospheric light, and distinct seasons.
St Patricks on the Hill is a lovely little chapel (the second smallest in Africa), popular as a wedding venue.
The Maqoma and Sandile Heritage Routes: For those interested in the Frontier Wars which took place in the area from 1780 to 1880, and shaped South Africa into the country it is today, then Hogsback is an ideal base for exploring these routes.
The Fairy Meander: Come and have an amazing experience at the Fairy Realm. Not only are there many delightful Fairy Sculptures on a beautiful Garden Meander (400 m) but, there are ponds with cascading water, breathtaking plants, the sound of birds and our own mini forest walk. This Meander was created for upliftment, peace and tranquility. It is an unforgettable and mystical experience.
