About Coffee Bay & the Wild Coast: Coffee Bay can be found in the Transkei, 200km north of East London along the N2, 80km down the coastal road to the Wild Coast. This is one of the best places in South Africa to experience traditional African culture.
Learn to Surf, trips to South Africa: Surfing is high on the agenda here - owner Dave was a Pro-Am World Championship title holder and still surfs competitively. Surf lessons are given by Dave and other qualified instructors and are among the most inexpensive in the world.

Coffee Shack straddles the Bomvu River. We offer camping and dorms, or if you're looking for peace and quiet, traditional thatched huts and en-suite rooms across the river, at backpacker rates. The accommodation is clean and simple.
Gap year travel: Day trips are offered every day that the weather allows (we have on average 300+ days of sunshine per year). These range from beach outings to cultural experiences, adventurous abseiling drops and coastal hikes with qualified guides.
Xhosa culture experiences: The Transkei, home to the Xhosa people, is the only part of the country still governed by tribal authorities - most of the region's inhabitants live in the traditional way. Many visitors have commented that this feels like the "Real Africa" as they imagined it would be - huts dot the hillsides...
